Dr Kim On - staff news

We are delighted to welcome Dr Kim On who has been appointed to take over the majority of Dr Ellen Kruidenier’s patients as of 1st August 2018.  Dr On has recently completed her three year General Practice Training on the Reading GP Training scheme and did her final year of training at Sonning Common Health Centre. She is therefore very familiar with the practice, the team and the area and has already got to know a number of patients.

Dr On will also be looking after the residents of Abbeycrest Nursing Home from October 2018. This is a big role and she therefore can’t take on all the patients previously on Dr Ellen’s list. Around 100 patients are therefore being changed to each of Dr Nick Smith, Dr Sam Muncey and Dr Claire Webster’s list. These doctors started last year and can accommodate these patients.

There has been a lot of change over the last 18 months and some more to come. Dr Claire Webster is currently on maternity leave and is being covered by Dr Shams Aljoboori until mid-October 2018. In October Dr McKinlay will then reduce her sessions and Dr Aljoboori will stay on and have her own list of patients.

We hope that everyone will understand that we are trying to manage all these changes as best we can with least disruption to you as patients. In order to provide optimal care whilst being mindful of doctors’ workloads, we do however need to balance each doctor’s patient numbers with their availability. We therefore encourage patient to see their usual doctor for continuity of care where possible but understand that certain conditions are best seen by certain doctors and that emergency appointment needs arise that require any doctor’s attention.

We feel very lucky to have a full complement of GPs and practice team in this challenging time for General Practice. We are excited about the opportunities the new team offers and hope our patients will welcome Dr On.  We aim to continue to provide the responsive person-centred care that has helped to make our practice the centre of the community for many years and which was recognised by the Care Quality Commission in its Outstanding rating.
