URGENT - time coming to have your flu jab

Few households escaped coughs and colds last winter. Some of the Illness was due to the Influenza virus and there is now such overwhelming evidence In favour of flu vaccination that the government is now recommending that all those aged 65 and over be vaccinated.

We have one of the poorest vaccination rates in Europe and have suffered accordingly. This year we will be writing to all those in the at-risk groups, inviting them to come In for vaccination on certain dates In October and November.

Some people were concerned that the vaccine Itself might cause a flu-like Illness. The evidence is now there to show that this does not happen.

In line with government policy, most of the Health Centre staff are going to be immunised this year.

If you do not receive a letter from us regarding flu, it means that you are not considered to be in one of the at-risk groups. If there are any vaccines left after we have finished our clinics for the at-risk groups, they will be available to other patients who feel they need to be vaccinated. If you fall into this category, you will need to phone the Health Centre on 0118 972 2745 between 6th and 10th November for an appointment. The remaining vaccines will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
