We try hard to keep high standards in everything we do. The doctors have to have continual
formal medical education totalling five days every year. In addition we have educational updates every
Wednesday morning between 8-00 and 9-00 a.m. The nurses organise regular education sessions for all
nurses in our Primary Care Group. We have an extensive library for the medical staff. The best form of recognition for the Health Centre is the satisfaction of our patients and our own sense that we have been able to improve a patient's health and well-being. However, it is also gratifying when the quality of your work is recognised by your fellow professionals and you receive an award. Our Health Centre has been regularly recognised in this way over recent years. 1993 Finalists in the Doctor of the Year Awards - for work with arthritis 1994 Winners of the 3M Pathfinder Award - for improving the paths of communication in general practice (Arthritis Clinic) Finalists in the Doctor of the Year Awards - for work on smoking cessation Winners of the Mental Health Doctor of the Year Award 1995 Finalists in the Doctor of the Year Awards - for innovative work Finalists in the Trainee of the Year Award Winners of the Practice Nurse of the Year Award 1996 Winners of the Doctor Awards - for innovative work Finalists in the Doctor Awards - for coronary prevention 1997 Winners of the Health Alliance Awards - for coronary heart disease and stroke prevention Finalists in the Doctor Awards - for care of the elderly and coronary prevention 1998 Runner-up in the BMA/Glaxo Award - for coronary prevention 1999 NHS Beacon Practice Award - the only one in Oxfordshire
